Vesna Longton

Vesna Longton

Artist Statement:

Everything is one when it exists beyond time. The Big Bang scattered the universe, and we now carry fragments of that original wholeness. For me, art is sacred knowledge—a way to reassemble those pieces. My work draws on shamanism and cosmogenism, rooted in the belief that the artist is a healer. I practice artosomatics: using art as a path to healing and integration. Working across painting, sculpture, and storytelling, I explore contrasts—light and shadow, transparency and density—to express the invisible. My sculptures blend color and form, dense yet translucent. Layered paintings made from epoxy, plexiglass, or interlocked canvases evoke depth and interconnection. Light is both a medium and a symbol of the soul. My work carries layered meanings that often reveal themselves over time.

Vesna Longton is a New England-based sculptor and painter, originally from Russia. She graduated from Moscow State Pedagogical University in 1996 and moved to the U.S. in 2006. Her interdisciplinary practice bridges sculpture and painting, using resin, plexiglass, and colors to create layered, three-dimensional works. Exploring themes of transparency, density, and the essence of soul, her art blends technique with spiritual symbolism. Vesna’s evolving career has included illustration, teaching art, body art, murals, and event painting. An award-winning artist, she exhibits internationally, and her work is held in private collections across Russia, Europe, and the United States.

Artist Statement:

The inspiration for my artwork comes from the interconnectedness of all life. The micro and macro scales of the universe and Earth are incredibly beautiful with life in color radiating from and within it. Connection is essential for expression. For this reason, I channel the abundant love I have for the beauty of the universe into an experience on canvas. When I paint the energy of the cosmos, I feel myself flowing as a part of this fascinating and intricate place we call home. When I paint the cosmos, I feel the presence of home as new life and true feeling. I realize just how alive we are.

Ewa Roselli arrived in New York City on December 22, 1989. She came to see the famous Christmas displays on Fifth Avenue and experience a city like no other - so different from her home country of Poland. She ended up staying to pursue her dream of becoming a professional artist and enrolled in the School of Visual Arts. She graduated in 1997 with a degree in Painting and a certification in Art Therapy. In 1999, she moved to Providence, Rhode Island as a continued flow in her evolution.

Ewa has experimented and been a professional with B&W and color photography, sculpture, architecture, and various techniques of painting; finally settling on creating very colorful watercolors and equally expressive oil paintings.
