Susie Dorr
Susie and her husband Greg Kniseley and have been photographing together for more than 17 years. They share a love of the natural world but often have different points of views as photographers and give each other honest, helpful critique. And they show their work together at a nearby artist collective and local juried exhibitions.

Susie grew up with intrepid parents who wanted her to see and appreciate the great diversity and beauty of the world around her. They dug for fossils on the Bay of Fundy, climbed rock piles at night with blacklights to be dazzled by the colors of phosphorescent rocks, and foraged for fungi and fiddleheads in forests after the rain. Photography gives her the opportunity to slow down and continue my observations and a creative outlet to express her joy in what she sees.

When she is behind a camera she feels awe. To watch the light creep across desert dunes, illuminating ripples and curves, or waiting for the sun to set and spread vibrant waves across the sky is magical.

Greg Kniseley
Photographing slows him down and helps him observe nature more carefully. He has a deep appreciation for the beauty, complexity, diversity and fragility of the world - always striving to create artistic photographs of nature that also tell stories. His subjects are majestic landscapes, waterfalls, sunsets, close-ups of flowers, wildlife in action, and natural abstracts.

Greg developed a passion for nature and art during his childhood. His father taught him about composition, light and color. During high school, his father handed down a Pentax film camera after purchasing the latest camera gadget – a Hasselblad used by Apollo astronauts. He was amazed with the magic of capturing star trails using long exposures and developing film and printing in a darkroom.

Greg purchased his first digital camera in 2005. Today, he uses a mirrorless DSLR camera, different lenses and filters and a range of post-processing applications. He has learned about artistic composition and technical skills from professional photographers during photo tours and workshops and from his wife Susie Dorr who photographs with him.
